Health Insurance & Massage Therapy
Health insurance for massage doesn't have to be complicated.

Siskiyou Massage has been working with health insurance for many years in Ashland, Oregon, and our administrative team has extensive experience navigating massage therapy benefits. We can help you understand your coverage, determine what may be required by your plan, and handle billing when we're able to bill your insurance directly.
Coverage varies from plan to plan, so the best place to start is to contact our office with your insurance information. We'll help you figure out the next steps.
Simple Steps
- Call us with your insurance ID and Group Number
- Let us know if the insurance is provided by an employer
- Prefer to text? Send us a photo of your insurance card along with your date of birth.
- We'll look into your benefits and get back to you soon
Health Insurance Plans We Work With
We work with many health insurance companies and networks, including:
Regence • Anthem • Blue Cross Blue Shield • Providence • TriWest • Moda • HMA • RGA • Collective Health
Being insured by one of these companies does not necessarily mean your particular plan includes massage therapy benefits. Coverage, deductibles, copays, visit limits, referral requirements and other rules vary by plan.
Not sure whether you're covered? Contact our office. We're happy to help you figure it out.
Massage Benefits Through Local Employers
Over the years, we've worked with thousands of clients whose health plans provide massage therapy benefits through local employers and organizations.
We regularly bill plans associated with organizations such as the Ashland School District, Southern Oregon University, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Ashland Food Co-op, City of Ashland, City of Medford, Jackson County, Asante, OHSU, Lithia Motors, Hunter Communications, local school districts, PEBB and the Federal Employee Program (FEP), among many others.
Insurance benefits can differ even among employees of the same organization, so please check with us about your individual plan rather than assuming that coverage is the same for everyone.
How Does Health Insurance Billing Work?
1. Contact us with your insurance information.
Give our office a call and have your insurance card available.
2. We'll help determine your benefits.
We'll look at whether we can bill your plan and what requirements may apply to massage therapy.
3. Schedule your massage.
We'll help make sure you're scheduled appropriately based on your coverage and your treatment needs.
4. We handle the billing.
When we're able to bill your insurance directly, our administrative team submits the claims and manages the billing process.
Please note: Verification of benefits is not a guarantee that your insurance company will pay a claim. Ultimately, coverage and payment are determined by your insurance plan.

Does My Insurance Require a Prescription or Referral?
Some health insurance plans require a prescription, referral, or other authorization for massage therapy, while others do not. Requirements can also change from year to year.
If your plan requires documentation from a healthcare provider, we'll let you know what is needed. If you're unsure, contact our office before your first insurance-billed appointment and we'll help you sort it out.
What If We're Out of Network With My Plan?
You may still have massage therapy benefits even if Siskiyou Massage is not in network with your particular plan.
Clients may choose to pay for their massage at the time of service, and we can provide a superbill containing the information needed to submit a claim to their insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Reimbursement depends on your individual out-of-network benefits and is not guaranteed.
Health Insurance vs. Auto Insurance
If your massage therapy is related to injuries from a motor vehicle accident, the billing process is different. Visit our Auto Insurance Billing page to learn about treatment and billing following an auto accident.
