If you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident, you might not have realized how helpful therapeutic massage can be in your recovery.
When a person is in a car accident the thing most commonly injured is the soft tissues of the body (muscles, tendons and other connective tissues). Our bodies just aren’t designed to withstand the amount of movement or impact you receive in an accident. Even though a car might not have sustained too much damage or too high a cost in repairs, the body can sustain a lot of injury just in the soft tissues.
That’s why a great place to start when you are in pain and you don’t know where to go is massage therapy. We work with soft tissue every single day and we’re working to normalize them, repair them and make them healthy again. The therapists at Siskiyou Massage are highly skilled in treating auto accident injuries like: whiplash, neck and back injuries, tendon damage, muscle spasms, myofascial pain, headaches, migraines, and insomnia.
Working With Health Care Professionals
At Siskiyou Massage we have great relationships with doctors and hospitals in the area. Your therapist will develop a treatment plan to provide you with the most appropriate treatment for your injury and will keep your referring health care provider up to date on progress. Sometimes we might find chiropractic work or acupuncture or some other type of care is necessary instead of, or in conjunction with massage. We have a huge referral base in the Rogue Valley for these types of professionals and medical doctors.
State of Oregon Personal Injury Protection
One of the great things about being in Oregon is the State requires us to have a certain amount of personal injury protection in our auto insurance. This means, if you are injured in an accident, your own auto insurance takes care of you, whether it was your fault or somebody else’s fault. At Siskiyou Massage we bill auto insurance for you so you can focus on healing. We work very closely with referring practitioners so you can continue your prescription, if you need to, for the massage therapy. Your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage will pay for your injury treatments (including massage therapy) for up to 2 years from the date of the accident or until your PIP benefits are exhausted (check with your insurance company for specifics).
You just need to bring the following with you to your appointment:
1. Name of your Insurance Company
2, Name and Phone Number of your Insurance Rep
3. Your Claim Number
4. A Prescription for Massage Therapy from your Doctor (or Chiropractor, Osteopath, or Naturopath)
So, if you find yourself in the unfortunate position of being in a car accident, give us a call or stop by the clinic and we can answer your questions and see if we can help you with therapeutic massage.
