Gretchen Sumpter is nationally certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork. She uses her 29 years of experience to help bring a sense of overall wellness and deep relaxation to her clients; allowing the body and mind to find balance. She has studied at multiple schools around the country and in Central America bringing to her practice, here in Ashland, a unique blend of orthopedic/medical massage and Swedish Esalen style bodywork. She has most recently been studying Ortho-Bionomy, a gentle, osteopathically-based form of body therapy which is highly effective in working with chronic stress and injuries. Her approach to bodywork and massage is compassionate, nurturing and intentional and she is very effective at helping her clients meet their goals.
Gretchen has a passion for working with expecting mothers through prenatal massage, and with the elder population. In addition, as a breast cancer survivor, Gretchen understands and can meet the needs of those compromised due to illness or injury.
Life experience of being a mother, a cancer survivor, and living a subsistence lifestyle in Alaska for years has shaped her love for nature and the beauty in the world around us.
